Climateadvisor and Terravera form strategic partnership
Terravera and Climateadvisor have entered into a strategic collaboration aimed at fostering a shared understanding of what constitutes true sustainability within the energy sector, particularly in the oil and gas industry.
Terravera chose to establish this partnership based on Climateadvisor’s expertise, commitment, and in-depth knowledge of the industry.
“For us, it’s crucial to align with partners who are forward-thinking, proactive, and eager to contribute to sustainable development,” says Paal Larsen, one of the initiators behind the Terravera Foundation.
Shared Understanding of Reality
Climateadvisor works with companies striving for healthy growth through sustainable business development, emphasizing that sustainability equals competitiveness.
“At Climateadvisor, we want to help create a shared understanding of true sustainability based on verified data within Norway’s largest industry,” says Hanne Dybdahl, partner and advisor at Climateadvisor.
Two major benefits of collaborating with Terravera include developing new company-specific data and gaining access to general research values. These provide a stronger foundation for making informed decisions.
“It’s important to emphasize that proprietary data can remain internal. The goal is not to highlight, for example, negative emission figures but to provide new insights and knowledge to the industry through deeper, more detailed modeling of reality. Here, academia contributes research values and uncovers new connections, which the entire industry can access and leverage through a digital tool,” Larsen explains.
Reducing Emissions
One of the biggest challenges companies face today is figuring out how to reduce their emissions. Knowledge and facts about the most sustainable choices will be critical.
“I’m proud to have worked in the oil and gas industry for over 20 years, but I see the enormous challenges it faces in achieving a 50% net reduction by 2030. Imagine if we could create a shared database to better understand reality, enabling everyone to make better choices,” says Kristin Vinje, partner and advisor at Climateadvisor.
Collaborating to Achieve Goals
Going forward, the plan is to involve more actors who want to contribute. Specific challenges can be modeled on the platform, even focusing on a small segment of a value chain. These models will be digitalized on Terravera’s platform, making them dynamic, enriched over time, and reusable by all, concludes Larsen.
