Collaboration with EQON
- Even though we are a small startup company, we have big ambitions for how we can help change the world. Through our collaboration with Terravera, we can uniquely document how we contribute to more sustainable development for our customers,” says Mikal Løvik, Managing Director at EQON
EQON is a technology company with the mission of eliminating energy waste in heating systems, thereby contributing to a better redistribution of energy. We aim to reverse the trend by developing technology that addresses climate challenges rather than exacerbating them through increased consumption. The company currently employs seven people and has just started its “go-to-market” process, experiencing a very positive reception in the market, says Løvik.
What challenges do you see in the industry in general?
A lot of technology is developed with the goal of creating new needs for us as consumers, often with noble motives like improving and streamlining processes. However, many of these solutions end up being harmful to the environment because they increase energy consumption. We want to be a counterweight.
Løvik further explains that the requirements for documenting sustainability will become significantly stricter than they are today, and in order to stay ahead by having credible sustainability information, partners like Terravera are important for us. Terravera acts as a neutral third party that puts the facts on the table. Additionally, Løvik encourages collaboration within the industry to find common solutions. There is a massive set of sustainability regulations coming that will be a “bombshell” for many businesses in Norway. Establishing a shared understanding and common methods will become essential. If we can collectively use the data to make the world a better place, we all win.
With Terravera Foundation on board, EQON aims to document that their sustainability hypothesis for their products holds true. The combination of unique sustainability expertise and access to academic resources makes Terravera unique for us. We hope the collaboration will help clarify our sustainability profile and the sustainability value our solutions provide to our customers, says Løvik.
Terravera looks forward to a fruitful collaboration!
