Helene Seyr is the new Head of Modelling at Terravera Foundation

We welcome Terravera Foundation’s new Head of Modelling, Helene Seyr.

Helene holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, a master’s degree in economics/statistics, and a Ph.D. in maintenance modelling for offshore wind power from NTNU. For the past six years, Helene has worked in modelling for the fisheries and aquaculture industries at two different companies.

"In my role at Terravera, I am responsible for the modelling team. This involves supporting the existing model leads and modellers, as well as recruiting new modellers. My task is to ensure consistent and high quality in the models we deliver to our partners. I achieve this through good communication with many partners from the beginning and by following up on the modellers. I also facilitate Terravera's future growth by establishing solid structures, documentation, and routines within the team. Together with the rest of the leadership, we plan both short- and long-term strategies to best fulfill the foundation's mission," Helene explains.

Helene was born and raised in Austria and moved to Norway ten years ago for love.

"I love being active in nature, both in summer and winter. I go on mountain hikes, either on foot, by bike, or on skis, almost every weekend. In addition, I am more than average enthusiastic about growing and preserving my own food. I dry herbs, ferment vegetables, and make syrups and jams from berries and fruits — mostly from my own harvest."

Helene also expresses great enthusiasm about joining Terravera Foundation:

"It is incredibly exciting to apply my knowledge and experience to the foundation's projects. I have previously modelled different things for various industries, and sustainability modelling is an exciting and new field where I see a lot of potential for the future. During the recruitment process, I gained great insight into the foundation and had good conversations with many of the people who are now my colleagues. The tasks seemed exciting and the colleagues friendly, so it was an easy decision to say yes."
